The trade retailing is dealing with a deep and serious transformation caused by the changes in consumer values and the trend of global markets. At the same time, a considerable amount of facts have contributed to the increasing competition among the companies in the retailing sector.
Consequently, those companies have the necessity of renewing their processes as well as their management roles. That's why, in order to survive and grow in such a competitive environment, it is essential for companies to have well trained people who have the capacity of identifying clients needs and know how to define and develop successful competitive strategies.
In the current consumption market, two new competitive models can be identified: On one hand, the major retailing and the franchising are leading the fast moving consumption products. On the other hand, the minor retailing is getting specialized (or at least it should be doing it) in market niches.
In order to be adapted to the new competitive models, companies need to have people capable of designing high-level competitive strategies, as the change process is causing a serious franchising and retailing power re-equilibrium. This has contributed to a serious development of management techniques and strategies
